The Uptown Society Orchestra features favorites from the great American songbook in fresh arrangements written by some of the best writers of big-band swing and jazz today. This ten-piece Orchestra has played Major Jazz Festivals (Including Rochester’s Own-RIJF) to Corporate Events. The focus of the band and organization, is to recreate classic Swing Arrangements, based on the original recordings of yester-year. USO is also proud of it’s Vocal Features. The Vocals of USO feature arrangements sung by Peggy Lee, Nancy Wilson, Natalie Cole and Frank Sinatra, to name a few. Our focus is to have some of the best arrangers in the USA and the world-create unique arrangements that feature the band and our vocalists, Lindsey Holland and/Nancy Kelly.
A dynamic young vocalist, Lindsey resides in Rochester, NY. She has been working and studying with Jamie Jordan (Eastman), the NY Voices, Chris Ziemba and Nancy Kelly. She currently fronts her own 5tet, The Little Big Band and the Uptown Society Orchestra, with her father Big Band leader–Rick Holland, who plays trumpet and flugelhorn. Her interests in music vary, but one thing for sure, she commits to the styles of Swingin’ Big Band Jazz. The USO and LBB now have over 50 custom arrangements for Ms. Holland to sing! It’s an exciting sound that will remind people of Peggy Lee, Stacey Kent and others.
