Frances Lovett

Frances Lovett is an 18 year old singer/songwriter from upstate New York. She found her passion for music playing in a bluegrass band starting at the age of 6, and has continued her love for music ever since. She began her training as a classic vocalist, and picked up writing by the time she was 11. A proficient bassoonist, Lovett incorporates classical influences in her own arrangements. Growing up listening to the music of her parents, she considers Joni Mitchell and Billy Joel some of her greatest influences, along with more modern artists such as Noah Kahan, Lucy Dacus, Bon Iver and Phoebe Bridgers. Lovett’s lyrics are especially strong, lending themselves to layers of emotional depth. She fronts a band called Oldest Daughter, who fills venues in the Rochester area. She will be joined by Anna Day on fiddle. Anna began playing violin at age five with a similar background in bluegrass. As the second member of Oldest Daughter, Anna and Frances have been playing together since September. She will be attending Middlebury college this fall.
