Mary Monroe and Nate Coffey

Rochester’s hot new Singer/songwriter duo Mary Monroe and Nate Coffey provide a unique blend of instrumentation and World-Americana music. Monroe performs the lever harp, voice, and guitar, and Coffey the guitar, voice and bass. Their music features original lyrical and instrumental music along with arrangements of popular cover songs, and alluring vocal harmonies.

In the past year the Monroe-Coffey duo has played over one hundred performances at some of the most favored venues throughout New York State including; The Red Lion in New York City, The Naples Grape Fest, Roc City Fest, AcoustiCity Music Fest, The Genesse Valley Club, Café Veritas, Three Heads Brewing, Mendon 64, Via Girasole, The Fringe Fest at The Lyric Theatre, and Murph’s Pub.

Monroe-Coffey’s first single, appropriately titled Together, was released on March 4^th for The Flower City Angles compilation album with 2 more singles to follow in April. They are busy recording at B-Live Studio with award winning producer Levi Bennett with plans to release their full EP in the summer of 2019.

Nate Coffey has over thirty years’ experience as a professional musician performing nationally and internationally. He recorded on over 20 albums, and released 5 solo albums. Although he received his formal education at Berklee College in Boston, and Hunter College in NYC, Coffey says he learned the most from his very musical father Bill Coffey. Besides performing thousands of concerts with his father, Nate Coffey has also shared the stage with Jonny Winger, Leon Russel, Steve Gadd, and many more legends.

Mary Monroe has been performing professionally for over twenty years receiving her musical wings writing, recording, and performing with her musical family group The Monroes on WXXI’s multi-media production Come out into the Garden, written and produced by her mother Mary Ellen Durante. Since then Mary Monroe has shared the same bill as Maroon 5, Richard Marx, and Patty Larkin, performed nationally, and has been featured in many newspaper and magazine articles, radio and TV shows. Her fondest memories are of her performances with her extraordinarily talented father Dennis Monroe who passed away in 2006.

Both Mary Monroe and Nate Coffey keep their fathers’ music alive performing their songs and passing on their teaching methods to their own students.
