Left On Red

Corn Hill Arts Festival Entertainment

Left on Red highlights the talents of Liah Alonso (vocals, guitar, songwriting) and Kelly Halloran (violin, vocals). The two have been making music together as a duo since 2009, getting their start and making rent serenading music fans in New York City’s subways, Central Park, local restaurants, and other venues across the city. After forming the official band, they began writing and recording an arsenal of revolutionary thematic songs such as “High Heel Blues”, a female empowerment anthem, “Jack and Jill” about the pressures put on women and gender roles in society, and “Shop” a commentary on America’s addiction to retail. Left on Red has also written songs supporting war veterans and has often performed for veterans’ events.   In the earlier years of their career together, Left On Red spent quality time volunteering in hospitals, HIV clinics, and a battered women’s shelter.  Their work with Veterans Against War + Veterans for Peace led to live collaborations and a long-lasting friendship with legendary guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and  Audioslave. In 2012, Morello invited them to perform Woody Guthrie’s “This Land is Your Land” with him along with the great Jackson Browne at the Newport Folk Festival. Left on Red went on to tour nationally and internationally and now, after a brief hiatus, these talented musicians will be reuniting in Summer 2022 to perform at Rochester NY’s Corn Hill Arts Festival.
