The Front Porch Project

The Front Porch Project is an Americana duo from Upstate New York featuring songwriter Son Henry and upright bassist and harmony singer Elaine Verstraete. Blending close harmonies with acoustic guitar, upright bass, and story-driven songwriting, their music moves between folk, blues, and country with a sound somewhere between The Civil Wars, early Iron & Wine, and something altogether darker around the edges.

Both longtime musicians, Henry and Verstraete came to the project from very different corners of the roots world. Somewhere along the way, those influences collided and turned into something moodier, rawer, and harder to pin down. The result is music filled with memorable melodies, sharp imagery, and songs that tend to linger longer than expected.

Their live shows feel intimate and immediate, less performance than conversation. The soundtrack to the stories people usually leave out.
