The Jane Mutiny

Corn Hill Arts Festival Entertainment

The Jane Mutiny, like all mutineers, does not respect authority. The band is known for daring arrangements of great songs from all genres. TJM has been known to commandeer songs by artists as diverse as The Beatles, Foo Fighters, Warren Zevon, Bob Dylan, Steve Earle, Tears for Fears and The Allman Brothers and give them a unique, bluesy, Americana spin.

The Jane Mutiny has performed on stages all across NY State, and of course in and around Rochester, our beloved hometown. A few of our favorite places to play are Abilene, Sticky Lips, Lovin’ Cup, The Little Theatre Cafe, and Dinosaur BBQ. We’ve played at the Rochester Museum and Science Center, local festivals, and private parties. The band has also met with enthusiastic crowds at The Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival.

Sarah Jane Long studied jazz at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, where she began working as a session singer with members of such bands as Aerosmith, Til Tuesday, Peter Gabriel, and Steely Dan. In Boston, Sarah sang with RCA recording artists Down Avenue. She also spent several years singing country music, including as an opening act for Patty Loveless, Randy Travis, George Jones, Sawyer Brown, Tricia Yearwood and Bill Monroe, among others.

Through a series of fortunate events, Sarah was lucky to connect with guitarist Dan Hoh, drummer Mike Tutino, bassist Vince Tutino, and mandolin player Pat Brennan. The boys of The Jane Mutiny have the necessary adventurous spirit as well as over a century of cumulative musical experience in various genres, from jazz to rock to funk to Celtic to bluegrass that allows the melding of styles that makes The Jane Mutiny’s unique sound possible.
