The Corn Hill Neighbors Association Announces the 48th Annual Corn Hill Arts Festival

Rochester, NY, April 8 2016 – The Corn Hill Neighbors Association and ESL Federal Credit Union are excited to announce the dates and exhibits for this year’s Corn Hill Arts Festival. The 48th Annual Festival will take place July 9th and 10th from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday. This event is open to the public and free of charge.

A true Rochester tradition, the Festival is a lively celebration of art and music. With generous support from ESL, the historic Corn Hill community comes together to promote the creation of original creative works and raise funds for the Corn Hill Neighbors Association.

“At ESL, we are proud to support such a wonderful celebration of the arts and the Corn Hill community,” said Faheen Masood, CEO, ESL Federal Credit Union. “As the presenting sponsor of this year’s Festival, ESL is excited to be a part preserving and recognizing one of Rochester’s most treasured neighborhoods.”

Each year, the Festival hosts an array of original arts & crafts, live music on four stages, wine & beer gardens, food, and exhibits. More than 375 original artists and craftspeople will offer an abundance of pieces for sale to festival goers. The Corn Hill Neighbors Association is pleased to welcome back several annual favorites as well as some exciting new features!

The cars will all be from the last century and will include antiques, classics, hot rods and other unique vehicles. Visitors will have a chance to talk with the owners and “look under the hood”, choosing their favorite car in our “People’s Choice Award” voting.

Now in its eighth year, the Emerging Artists Expo recognizes budding artistic talents. The Expo invites 25 first-time exhibitors aged 15 to 25 to display and sell their artwork at the Festival. In an ongoing effort to cultivate and assist local Rochester talent, the Emerging Artists Expo (EAE) is back for its eighth year. The EAE showcases young artists, ages 15 to 25, by giving them the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work at the 48th Annual Corn Hill Arts Festival. Sponsored by MVP Health Care, the EAE is now accepting applications for a chance to participate in a professional juried art show. It will be held on July 9th and 10th, 2016 at this year’s Festival. “Being a new artist, the Corn Hill Arts Festival gave me a chance to showcase my handmade creations,” said Nicole Antonini, 2015 EAE participant and jewelry designer. “The Festival gives artists a platform to expose their creations to an entirely new market, and what could be better than that?”

Each participant is carefully selected by a committee and will receive an exhibit booth and support during the Expo. Submissions are now open for this year’s exposition. You can apply at: http://cornhillartsfestival.com/emergingartists/.The deadline for submission is May 31.

MVP Health Care is sponsoring the event again this year. “Rochester is filled with passionate young artists whose talents and creativity can serve as an inspiration to the greater community. MVP Health Care is pleased to sponsor the expo and continue to help cultivate opportunities to celebrate emerging artists,” said Mollie Rooney, MVP director of marketing and communications.

MVP Health Care is a nationally recognized, community-focused, not-for- profit health insurer serving more than 700,000 members in New York and Vermont. Committed to the complete well-being of its members, MVP provides the tools and information they need to achieve better health and peace of mind.

Younger artists are welcomed to participate in a Corn Hill neighborhood-themed coloring contest. ESL Federal Credit Union launched the Color Corn Hill Contest for children aged 5 to 16. There are three age divisions in which children can enter: five- to eight-year- olds and nine- to 12-year- olds can enter by coloring or painting a premade template; 13- to 16-year- olds are encouraged to create a freestyle image based on a special theme, highlighting the unique and meaningful parts of their own neighborhood. ESL judges will pick five finalists in each category. The finalists will be displayed on the ESL website for the public to vote on their favorites.

ESL Visa gift cards will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners in each category. Winning artwork will be displayed at the ESL Hospitality Tent located at Lunsford Circle at the 2016 Corn Hill Arts Festival. The deadline to submit for Color Corn Hill is May 14, 2016.
